How we Got to Now

Since september  2013 I have been kept busy making work for an animation project. The work is for a six part TV series  produced my Nutopia  for PBS and BBC and features Steven Johnson. 

The Animation direction is being lead by Peepshow's very own Pete Mellor, and overall production is by Miles Donovan. The animation team is made up of the very talented  Chris Sayer, Nicol Scott, and Robert Grieves 

I cant say to much more about it at this stage other than the content is exciting and a challenge to illustrate and animate.

Below are the initial collaged images that were used at the pitch stage of the project. The idea being that these TV graphic moments  incorporate some of the archive photography used within the show.

The sequences will have to tell narratives and explain information.

UCLH

Last year year myself and the rest of Peepshow worked on a project for UCLH Hospital lead by Chrissie Macdonald and Emmi Studio. The final work can be seen here but below are some of my

Pyrennees Mountains

Inbetween jobs i've been working on a comic and i'm pleased to say its finally finished. Its a 58 pages long and has no words. I am currently looking into getting it printed so in the meantime here is a small sequence.

Du Jour magazine

A recent editorial for Du jour magazine. The piece was about yoga teachers becoming as wealthy as the people they teach.

Royal London Hospital

Recently i've been working on the second part of artwork for the Childrens outpatients ward at The Royal London Hospital( to see the first part click here ). Commissioned by Vital Arts and created along with Spencer Wilson.

The second part will be installed later this week and features a whole host of new parading characters include these two chaps. Birds and cat on broom illustrated by spencer.

EB Magazine

For this recent Commission I was given the idea rather than the copy. It was interesting to have to make a cliche work

WigTown

I was recently commissioned to produce the cover for this years Wigtown Book festival brochure.The theme was focusing on  the idea of Wigtown as a destination. People travel from near and far to be at the festival.Here is a mock up of the final open cover design.

Below are various rough versions.

At first I focused too much on my own colour palette with not another thought or research into Wigtown as a place. Overall these where way too 'tropical'

Further roughs, addressing the colour ways but also started to look at the difference between the elments being quite fragnented in a flat space or more of a full landcsape image.

New York Times

Recent Editorail for The New York Times. The article was about solace in the digital age.

Below is a rough sketch for the idea that wasn't used.It tackles the more negative aspect of the article showing  a man instagramming a plant whilst his wive is giving  birth

Wrap magazine

Peepshow were asked to contribute to the next issue of Wrap Magazine which focuses on ' collectives'.

These drawings were for a larger collaborative piece. they are based on the idea that collaborating can not always work and be dysfunctional

designs

Recently I have been working on some possible designs for a wallpaper and fabric print for The Galvin Brothers. The idea is that at the designs focus on the work of a joiner and also the narrative where the products come form and how they are formed. As from tomorrow(12th march)You can see their beautifully crafted work at a pop up shop with an interior space curated by Darkroom. Illustration test

An illustration for a job I recently tested on.I cant say too much about the content as unfortunately I didn't get the job  but I had to work to a strict colour and modular branding guidelines which was an enjoyable problem.

Egg

Yesterday was the launch of this years 'The Big Egg Hunt'

An event to raise money and awareness for the charity  Action For Children.

All The eggs are on display in covent garden  until the 17th of february before touring the country.
